Valentine's Day is a special time of year for children as well as adults. It's a time to show love and appreciation for friends and family, and it's also a great opportunity to have fun and get creative with party decorations and classroom cards. Here are some recommendations for products that can help you create a special and memorable Valentine's Day celebration for kids.
For party decor, heart-shaped balloons, paper fans, and banners in a pink or red theme are always winners. I’m partial to a pink theme but red is more classic. You can also add in some candles, fairy lights, or even a disco ball to add a little extra sparkle to the occasion.
Whenever there is a chance to use balloons, I’m all for it. They make everything festive. Heart-shaped balloons come in different sizes and can be used in a variety of ways, such as creating a balloon arch or a balloon bouquet. We keep a helium tank on hand for those decorative mylar balloons that kids love holding onto like a floating pet on a leash. We also have an electric balloon pump for doing balloon arches, but my husband swears he will not build any more of those.
Set the table with V-Day themed plates, napkins, cupcake holders, and straws.
For classroom cards, there are a wide variety of options available. Some popular choices include homemade cards, store-bought cards, or even printable cards that you can create yourself. Homemade cards are great for crafty kids and parents who plan ahead and allot plenty of time. Unfortunately, this is not me.
Store-bought cards are low-effort and require just a little planning ahead. Also a great option if your child isn’t super picky about what is on their card, but if your child must have a a mermaid and the store doesn’t have it, then you’re out of luck.
My favorite, however, is printable cards. I bought an instant downloadable and printable card last year with a unicorn and then attached a rainbow swirl lollipop as its horn. The variety on Etsy is amazing - so many different styles and themes. And because they are downloadable and printable, they require only a little effort in terms of cutting them out and almost no planning, so they’re great for last-minute moms like me.
For moms who want easy and are planning ahead: This Premade S'more Kit Valentines comes with the treat already attached. (1/27/23 Update: Unfortunately, the Premade version is sold out, but you can still get a headstart on the S'more's theme by getting the stickers and bags, or getting a printable version here.)
For moms who can’t plan ahead and don’t mind minimal assembly:
You Arrrgh My Favorite Pirate - pair it with a bag of Pirate’s Booty
You Are A Mermazing Friend - pair it with a stick of rock candy
You Are a Paw-fect Friend - pair it with Paw Patrol or Scooby Doo graham crackers
For non-classroom cards, ImpressedInc offers a couple options on Etsy. And not only are they super cute, but she’ll even write the message for you and drop it in the mail. Soooo easy!
I Otterly Adore You Valentine's Day Card
You Are My Unicorn Funny Valentine's Day Card - Not suitable for kids
Hope you and your kids have a happy, stress-free, and sweet Valentine's Day!
